Dec. 9th, 2019 07:57 pmSometimes, you just read articles, books like this one https://www.newyorker.com/books/page-turner/englishing-the-iliad-grading-four-rival-translations that makes you just realize how translations can never capture the beauty of the original text. Then you want to study that language.
After that, I also suddenly realize that I have spent months studying Japanese and have so far only able to read some words at most and smile awkwardly and blankly whenever anyone says anything Japanese to me and that my effort in studying Japanese has so far been learning new works, kanjis and grammar structures 30 minutes before going to class. I doubt that I will be able to learn any language any time soon.
